TJ's Gym Weekly News Special Holiday Edition 1/20/2020
A few months ago, Zoe moved out of Marin and she’s since been commuting every so often, working with a couple of clients at the gyms. With that commute no longer making sense for Zoe, she’s officially leaving the TJ’s Gym staff but will always be part of our family. It’s been a great pleasure to be a part of Zoe’s growth over the years, and we are grateful for all of the inspiration and dedication she has brought to our community. We look forward to following her next steps, both personally and professionally, and we assure you that she’ll be around for workouts every once in awhile—she told me today during a sit-down chat! This is truly not a goodbye, just a transition. Best of luck, Zoe, and see you at the gyms!
Message from TJ
According to Wikipedia, “Dry drunk is a colloquial expression which describes an alcoholic who no longer drinks but otherwise maintains the same behavior patterns of an alcoholic.”
I just learned the term Dry Drunk recently. I’ve since spoken to a bunch of folks in recovery, and they explained to me that the root of the problem isn’t the alcohol. The root are the behaviors stemming from deep-set emotions and psychological content that needs to be addressed. Dry drunks quit the booze or drugs but never attend to the “why’s.”
Armando above took on our TJ’s Gym Big Lean Challenge back in the fall and lost just over 30 pounds in 3 months! I saw him yesterday. Since the program ended on Thanksgiving, he’s lost another 8 pounds.
We worked on Armando’s behaviors. We worked on his patterns. But mostly we worked on his “why’s.” We were able to address why he choose destructive behaviors and then created a plan to not only recognize why he was becoming increasingly successful with his mindset but also address why he has sabotaged his efforts in the past. Arming him with self-actualization around both behaviors was the key for him.
The TJ’s Gym BIG LEAN PROGRAM starts on February 1st, and I want to help you. The BL gives us the opportunity to work together, stay motivated, and dig into the how's and why's. I’m right here to answer any questions about the program and give you the honest truth when it comes to shedding excess body fat. You’ll need to work on mind, body, and soul.
