Hello, Everyone!
This will most likely be my last blog message for 2019, and I want to review a few highlights from the past year and set some collective goals for 2020.
We’ve had a number of long-term coaches move away, and we’ve brought excited, new coaches into the family who not only bring energy but agree wholeheartedly with our mission of helping people through fitness, connection, and community.
We announced that we will no longer be running NorCal Masters, the largest and longest running Masters-only CrossFit event in the world after 10 years, allowing ourselves to dedicate ourselves fully to empowering our community towards a long and fulfilling life.
Our workout programming message is clearly defined, and we broadcast it to our community in every way possible. It's on our Members Facebook page, in the newsletters, and announced regularly in classes. I’ve asked our coaches to use the "Pilot Analogy." On most flights, the pilot will announce what's happening six hours from now, 3 hours from now, 15 minutes from now, and right now. Our coaches know they should regularly tell your class what is going on with our programming for the next six months, six weeks, this week, and today. Hopefully you are benefiting from this style of messaging.
The point of my blog is now clear to me: to make you take a minute to think about something. I'm trying to provide an example in the world that will cause you to take pause and see if it rings a bell with the way you behave. Will this example cause you to take stock and possibly make a change for the better?
I've become more comfortable as a coach and a leader. Over 25 years of doing this work, I’ve developed a skill set to call it like I see it. I know what you need. I know what you want. I know how to get it, and finally, I know how to communicate this information to you. You might not be ready to listen. You might not be ready to get uncomfortable enough to create change. That's fine, because when you are, I'm always ready.
As a community I have two goals for us:
1. On average everyone of us loses 10 pounds in 2020. Life will be better if we do.
2. Stop crossing our legs. Look for the first blog of 2020 to address this goal. You'll appreciate it.
As a company, I have one goal for 2020. Consistency. In our message, our values and our commitment to serving you, our community.
