TJ’s CLASS OF 2020

We are kicking off our new blog feature for members of our community graduating from high school and college this spring. First up: Jaclyn Alvarado, who first joined us as a middle schooler both at the gym and as a babysitter, and is graduating from University of Redlands. Jaclyn was named Outstanding Senior in Business Administration! Check out the link below to hear more about Jaclyn’s accomplishments. She’s shown here with proud mom, long-time TJ’s member, Karene. Not pictured is proud dad, Ed, King of TJ’s Corte Madera.

See more about Jaclyn HERE! CONGRATULATIONS TO A TRUE ROCKSTAR! Way to go, Jaclyn, from all of us in your TJ’s Gym family!

MESSAGE FROM ALLISON AND TJ

Hi Everyone!

This week we announced that we are not renewing our lease at our San Rafael location on 4th Street. Our long email on the topic went out to our current members, with the exception of some personal-training-only clients. If you did not receive that communication and would like to hear our story, please email allison@tjsgym.com. The gist of it is that, given the current climate, we and our trusted advisors decided that signing a lease on a space of that size and requiring that much overhead would have been irresponsible, at best, and destructive, at worst.

As we mentioned in our announcement, the emotional fallout from this decision is significant, as we launched the beginnings TJ’s Gym community within those walls 18 years ago in April, when we were pregnant with our older daughter, Lyle, who is now 17 and graduating from high school. Many of the relationships forged at TJ’s Gym San Rafael will be with us for the rest of our lives. Our extended family started there.

We have every intention of returning to the San Rafael/San Anselmo area with a physical location when the dust settles, but shorter term, we will be running outdoor classes with appropriate safety procedures, just as soon as County health officials allow us to do so. This is true for all of our locations—we will begin re-introducing live classes outdoors, prior to being able to do so within the walls of our gyms. We will keep you posted, so please open your emails from us when they come, as we hope to have exciting announcements soon!

We plan to continue to highlight good news within our community in our upcoming newsletters, so please reach out with news about TJ’s Class of 2020 graduates, members of our community helping others, and other news of the sort!

We hope some of you will join us for IN IT TO WIN IT, SIP STYLE, to address your own self-care as we continue to combat the stress of this pandemic.

We are here, we are strong, our community is resilient, and we will continue to do everything we can to provide support and guidance as you strive to maintain and even build on the fitness and wellness foundation you’ve worked so hard to cultivate as a member of the TJ’s Gym community.

Thank you for your ongoing support, and please reach out with any questions or concerns!

We miss you all.

Allison and TJ
