MESSAGE FROM TJ And Allison
These have been extremely challenging times for many in our local community and our community of human beings around the country and around the world. From Covid-19, to economic hardship, to personal losses and plans derailed, to the global focus on racism and the challenges we face as a people to make things better, it’s been a tough few months. In our business world, there has been the added complication of our disaffiliation from CrossFit™, a topic about which we wrote here. We encourage you to read that message if you haven’t already.
We’ve written quite a bit over the past couple of weeks, in our weekly newsletters posted on our website, on social media, and in emails with friends and members of our gym community. We’ve had many conversations and look forward to many more, as we continue to learn and grow and develop plans.
Today, we take a step back to reflect on a celebration and time of great joy for our family and the families of many within our TJ’s Gym community.
With most of the Marin high schools now finished with graduation ceremonies, and having showcased in our blogs other members of the Class of 2020, we’d like to take one more opportunity to congratulate all of the graduating seniors and to give a special moment to our daughter, Lyle.
Lyle and her classmates graduated from Redwood High School in a series of three drive-in ceremonies at the Marin County Fairgrounds on Friday. The production was a combination of live and recorded speeches and musical performances, including a beautiful song she sang with a classmate. The ceremony was powerful and moving; the kids got to be together, take pictures, and celebrate; and we got to decorate the family Bronco with Redwood and Stanford logos, representing the richness of her past and the promise of her future. We are extremely grateful for all who had a hand in making that day and all of senior week as wonderful as they were.
We are endlessly proud of Lyle’s many talents and accomplishments and acknowledge that, like so many seniors in our midst, she’s worked tirelessly to have before her the opportunities she does. But what makes us most proud and thrills us most as parents is Lyle’s character and the way she moves through the world with grace, humility, and an unceasing commitment to being kind, welcoming, encouraging, and genuine. We salute her for her commitment to giving back and sharing herself in ways that lift up those less fortunate, and we await with great anticipation and hope the next phase of her making life better for those in her orbit.
Cheers to Lyle and the Class of 2020 all around Marin! You have shown great fortitude and perseverance these past few months, your future is bright, and we are with you!
With hope, gratitude, pride, and love,
Allison and TJ
