Behind the Zoom Scenes

We much prefer a gym filled with members!

Message from TJ AND ALLISON

We thought it would be good to give you a quick update on our behind the scenes heading into week four of life as we know it.

*We plan to continue offering six Zoom classes daily, Monday-Friday, two on Saturdays, and one on Sundays. New this week is that the noon class M-F will now be a regular class. Come one, come all! Also new this week are Happy Hours! We encourage you to join these Zoom gatherings based on typical class attendance times, so you can see your gym buddies. See below for details.

*We will continue to offer our at-home workout videos for all to access.

*We are reaching out to all monthly members by email in advance of monthly payments. In addition to our equipment loans, we are offering monthly members personalized programming targeted at those who need a little extra TLC. Monthly members can also continue to access recordings of all Zoom classes. Email allison@tjsgym.com if you need the link.

*Thanks to everyone who has reached out about the Payroll Protection Program. We filled out a request at our bank as soon as the program was announced and are still waiting to get the complete application. From there, we can only hope there are funds left, but unfortunately, banks are scrambling and the system is overwhelmed. We also applied for the EIDL through the SBA but have heard nothing back. Rest assured, it is our mission to get whatever help we possibly can, so that we can survive and can also support the members of our staff who are not currently working.

*We are constantly discussing next steps and how we might continue to pivot to meet the fitness and psychosocial needs of our community. If you have thoughts or suggestions about this, feel free to reach out any time: allison@tjsgym.com. We’d love to hear from you! We are available any time for calls, so please reach out if you are struggling in any way and think we might be able to help.

Thank you all for your support, your memberships, and your outreach to us personally and via social media! This is a challenging time, to say the least. The truth is that our community has been in training for this sort of event in many ways for many years; we are nothing if not able to join forces in support and solidarity when times get tough. We are truly grateful that our services are still as meaningful to many of you as they are, and we will continue to do whatever we can to support your health and wellness as we all stay at home.

Be well,

Allison and TJ

SCHEDULE OF ZOOM CLASSES AND OTHER OFFERINGS

PLEASE JOIN OUR ZOOM CLASSES! They are a perfect way to connect with our community while keeping up with your workout routine. There is programming for everyone, no matter what you have (or don’t have) at home.

To access Zoom classes, head to our COVID-19 webpage here. We update schedules and links each evening. Technical note: if a posted link doesn’t work, please keep refreshing your browser on the COVID page and/or head to our members page on FB. We always post new links when something goes wrong!

HAPPY HOUR WITH YOUR TJ’s CREW!

Missing your gym buddies? We thought it would be fun and therapeutic to designate times for certain classes to meet on Zoom and just shoot the bull. Members are welcome to come any time, but we are encouraging regulars of certain times/locations to come together. See this week’s schedule here, and look out for more next week! This week is the morning crew at all three gyms (5am-10:30am classes).

ACCESS OUR AT-HOME WORKOUTS HERE!

Our at-home workouts can be done any time on your own. They are directed by TJ but not coached in real time, the way our Zoom classes are. There are suggestions for those of you with weights at home and those of you without any equipment.

Current members can also request a link to our recorded Zoom classes, so you can access a full class in real time, on demand. Just email allison@tjsgym.com

ONLINE PERSONAL TRAINING

We continue to offer online coaching services. We know that for some of you, a one-on-one appointment is what keeps you accountable and keeps you showing up for your workouts! Please email allison@tjsgym.com if you’d like to schedule a private coaching session. We can loan additional equipment to anyone doing private training.

30-Minute Boost: Get in a quick but effective workout in just 30 minutes, with your coach by your side. Cost: $45

60-Minute Sessions: Our usual awesome coaching, done online instead of in person. Same great coaching from your home workout area.

15-MINUTE (or longer!) PRIVATE CHAT SESSIONS BY PHONE OR ZOOM

We understand that times are tough, and you may be feeling down, anxious, angry, and uncertain of how to navigate. While we can’t offer therapy, we CAN offer a shoulder to lean on and a relatively objective ear, as well as our expertise in the areas of fitness, nutrition, lifestyle, and mental health. Feel free to reach out to us if you think we might be of help:

check out Dine11 Marin!

Some local friends have started a branch of Dine11, and TJ’s Gym OG, Jennifer Lefferts, is on the front lines. Here’s what Jen has to say:

“I want to tell you about a non-profit that my friends and I have started in Marin. Dine11 was originally launched in Los Angeles to help feed healthcare workers and save struggling restaurants. We’ve now created a Marin chapter, Dine11Marin.org, and every dollar raised will be directly donated to Marin-based restaurants we all love to make delicious, free meals for hard-working doctors, nurses and crucial healthcare staff on the front lines during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Please consider making a tax-deductible donation at Dine11Marin.org and sharing this website. By joining the effort to “take-out” Covid-19, you will generously honor our healthcare heroes while helping to save our beloved restaurants!”

Also note: TJ’s member, Peter Schumacher’s restaurant, Buckeye Roadhouse, is participating.
This program is a win-win! If you can’t donate, you can also volunteer to deliver meals.
